1 Tanga, Indo-Portuguese, 1947 Note These banknotes were not legalBronze 1 tanga Indo Portuguese coin, for use in Goa, Daman & Diu, minted in 1947. The tanga was equivalent to 1 anna, or 1 16 of a rupia. The obverse carries the coat of arms of Goa the five shields on Portuguese coat of arms, waves representing the sea overseas colonies, and tower fort representing Goa. The reverse carries the denomination. These coins were minted in Lisbon. Not to be confused with the 1952 tanga, which was smaller check picture 5.
